It wasn’t long after mobile apps became ‘a thing’, that businesses could see the potential of using their own business apps running on these new smartphones to make their processes more efficient, staff happier and general street cred rise. Given we had been predominantly developing B2B apps for customers in our web-based dev days, we were brilliantly positioned to bring these skills to bear on mobile.
Some of our first mobile apps were business apps, so we know what we’re doing. We have built B2B apps for the likes of Computacenter, Symantec, AstraZeneca and Rolls-Royce to name a few. These apps have been used as internal tools, sales tools and a means for their customers to access their data and services on mobile.
We develop business apps for iPad, Windows and Android tablets as well as smartphones focusing on the business problem our customer is trying to solve and providing innovative solutions. Typically these are native apps developed using Xcode, Android Studio and Visual Studio, however occasionally we will use HTML5 for certain apps or features.
We understand that a business app often has to integrate with our customers own infrastructure. Building on our background in web-based development we are able to work with our customers in house IT teams to ensure that these touch points into their systems are robust, secure and reliable.
Our process for defining requirements for business apps is a consultative one. We need to fully understand our customer’s business in order to make the best recommendations in terms of design, functionality and approach.
Once we have a detailed understanding of the business and functional needs our UX team will produce Wireframes while the technical team will work closely with our customer’s to plan and de-risk any integration required for the solution.
Once UX is agreed and integration plan detailed, we crack on the with the development phase. Our Project Team typically develops business apps using an agile methodology and the customer’s key stakeholders are welcome to be involved in this process as much or as little as they wish.
